How To Be The BEST Camping Neighbor
We have a 2018 Axis and we really enjoy it but it has the problems that are associated with a lower end, more affordable class A. It absolutely needed a steering stabilizer and heavy duty sway bars. Those improvements made a tremendous difference to the handling on highways and on windy days.
I am holding my breath as you film and drive, especially in a borrowed RV..... Beautiful Class A...time to play the lottery!
Thor builds nice looking rigs, Eye Candy I call it. Problem is, they look nice but are very poor quality, the worst of the pile, warranty very hard to deal with, we bought a Reve product 3 years ago and love it. Warranty is easy to deal with and the quality is a lot better then Thor
I’ve been fulltime in a 2016 Thor Axis 25.2 since 2017. First solo, now with my husband of 3 years. We love it. Got the SafeTPlus bar immediately so no highway driving issues. Windshield replaced twice but no issues with insurance. The big windshield let’s in so much light that it’s worth it. The size is right for fitting most places including friends driveways. We pull a 2016 Ford Fiesta. We have no desire to change our RV. I’m a rare case that picked the right rig the first time. Feel free to ask me any questions
One of the big reasons we decided not to buy one of these short class A’s was the windshield. They are not very common which means they will have a hard time trying to replace them. Most bigger class A’s use common sizes that can regularly be in stock
The typical rv nasty color patterns etc interior ugh
Ugh very cheaply built sorry
You and the Russos would be two opinions I would trust. Thanks for reviewing the Axis. I've always been curious about it. 👍
Thanks for this note - we appreciate it!
On our 2021 Vegas, we had the Electric Stabilizing System (auto levelers). It was included as an “option’ on the sticker for $825. Worked well.
On the Axis did you or do you have to hold down the start button so long in the generator?
No... usually just a couple secs...I kept my finger there for the camera to show its location
I love the format of these reviews! We had a 2021 Thor Vegas 24.1 (same as Axis). Smaller than the one they’re driving in this video. The design was perfect with the exception of the dreaded shower. It drove extremely well, very easy to maneuver. Actually fun to drive. But the quality build was horrible. Others have had challenges with Thor, too.
We test drove the 2024 Vegas version of the Axis on Interstate I95 . We were down sizing from a 40 ft class A and thought this the perfect fit for our limited travels. DANGEROUS is the one word I would use driving at highway speeds in a 15 to 20 mph crosswind. We had the salesperson and two friends with us on the test drive. Others have called the experience as white knuckle driving but the more accurate description would be Dangerous in windy conditions. We are told a $5k upgraded in after market suspension parts and another 3K to 5K installation cost could make a substantial improvement to the safety of this model. Sadly we had to decline the purchase and have yet to find our perfect small motorhome. We have decided to put off our search until after the 2024 presidential election to commit time and money to our final decision but unless the manufacturer puts the properly engineered suspension on the Vegas/Axis models it will not be our choice.
We spend about $ 5000 on our Class A Gas on suspension upgrade, let me tell you, we can drive now in any windy conditions, semis don’t bother us anymore. No matter if it’s a Class C or A , to make it safe you will spend the money unless you get a Diesel with air bags, then you really spend money and deal with expensive diesel maintenance
I don’t think it’s a big deal to use leveling blocks. You know they’re not going to leave you stranded which auto leveling is famous for
Best small Class A ever was the Winnebago Via/Itasca Reyo twins. Built on the stripped Sprinter chassis, they were far more quiet and luxurious than any of these. That chassis is sadly discontinued. The Europa is closer, but too bulky and stiff. It would have been much better on an E450 chassis.
Great review. I had considered buying one of these units but not so much now. I really like that you give your honest opinions, good and bad.
Glad it was helpful!
I noticed you said. "You know what this is." Please don't assume. Some of us are newbies. We need to know what everything is. I enjoyed the content.
Lol Never got to the review. There was a really extensive commercial for something or other to prevent my dementia from progressing ?
That's RUclips....
This is great!
Thanks!
Well we owned one a 2018 model. It was a POS. The cab a/c did not work because the system was missing some major components. A small town mechanic in Central Texas found the problem after three trips to the dealer. There were a lot of quality problem with the unit, like staples in the shower's water lines that did not manifest itself until after the "warranty period". Again Thor is a POS.
Love Jen! What a nice spirit! 😍
Love what LOVES is doing with the campground. I normally stop at Flying J because alot of them offer the RV fuel lanes separate from the regular gas lanes. They also offer the 10 cents off. Love for them to add RV lanes for fuel as well.
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
30 years ago discovery showed herds made of thousands. Now... 100's🙄
Because he's in the middle of nowhere. I'd never leave with all his expensive solar equipment unsecured for bandits to steal. No thanks. Not my lifestyle at all.
I would love to see you try out a few small class As as you did the Bs
New series on small As starting tomorrow - stay tuned!
So which did they prefer?!
Thank you Mike & Jen for sharing your open and honest feedback. I can always count on you to be candid. I’ve been wanting an update on the B’s so having the variety was excellent
They are soon to become the Darwin Family.
I’ve seen tourists come leaping off busses and run in packs toward Bison, screaming and jumping. So dumb.
I love it when stupidity over comes common sense!!😂 You Go! Bison!!
28 dollars a night the cheapest in Colorado dry rustic camping
Para pendejo no se estudia, wise words to live by 😂😂😂😂
Those bison charge a lot for a photo 😂
Sure wish it was $59k and not 59k! That outdoor curtain setup is far to cumbersome. There are much more practical and easy setups.
This is one of the main reasons they invented zoom lenses :P
I'm from saint george utah, I could never comprehend people who walk up on animals they not only put themselves in danger but cause animal to be euthanized.
Thanks
Why the gun in the offgrid interview? Very odd.
So how do you tell the difference between buffalo and bison? Bison have large humps at their shoulders and bigger heads than buffalo.
People are stupid- proof.
So what type of toilet do you want?
I use Visible on my phone. It’s also my hotspot. I use terabytes of data for TV and RUclips with no problems. Of course, I don’t have business needs. Just entertainment. Internet is tough for RV folks. Yes, I’m full time.
Dumb designs, two separate dump valves 🙃 every campers favorite chore, so lets double it, NO .
Just subscribed and was wondering if you have any recommendations on best class C RV for full-time living it seems like so many of them are so cheap now
Thank you for subscribing! Mike and Jen are out camping/ testing out Class Cs as part of a new series they are working on - Stay tuned! It is coming soon - Team RV Lifestyle
@@jimhair152 not sure I understand?
Sorry. Placed my comment in the wrong spot.😮
I’d put up a 10ft fence around house/property. I don’t trust anyone! Amazing set up. ❤
It was pretty amazing
Yosemite in the Fall, when the crowds have died off for the year, along with the leaves changing colors can’t be beat. In my opinion it’s the only & best way to see Yosemite!!!
Are people so infantile that they don't know the meaning of the word, territorial?
But...but...but..SO FLUFFY! MUST PET! (ER nurse here - people do dumb shit constantly. I'm never out of work)
Far too expensive/overpriced compared to other builds. But, hey, if you have the $$$$$.
Lakeside is my all time favorite place. It is just so peaceful and I’m always grateful for any amount of time I can be there.❤
We are also traveling through Canada into Alaska, departing on July 5 and ultimately returning to the US (lower 48) in early September. This is a tour with Fantasy RV. My pet's last rabies vac was administered on Jan 31, 2024 in Mesa AZ. That vet is not a "USDA-accredited" vet, and could not access the "portal" to obtain the "Certification (by USDA after application by USDA-accredited vet) of US-issued Rabies Vaccination Form" or "USDA endorsed (also performed by and applied for by USDA-accredited vet) export health certificate." We are to have one of those forms in hand, in addition to the items mentioned in this video. We found a USDA-accredited vet in Bozeman MT a week ago and her comments were, "This is so confusing." She also said, "You shouldn't need this." I'm currently in a holding pattern while she consults with the regional head vets in her USDA-accredited vets multi-state group. She did insist that she had to administer ANOTHER rabies vaccine to my dog to fit the requirements. So my 8 pound chihuahua has had 2 rabies vaccines since Jan 31, 2024. And I am still waiting for the documents required to bring our dog back into the US once we depart. My experience, even USDA-accredited vets have no idea about these new regulations. This is an expensive tour group that we have been looking forward to for 2 years. Cancellation at this late date is really not an option. I'm hoping that this Bozeman vet will come through with one of the specified USDA certifications by the end of this week. I'm also not 100% sure that will happen. I hate having this cloud hanging over us as we prepare to depart on this bucket list trip.
It sure is confusing. Sorry you are dealing with this, too
